Training is one of the most important investments a company can make, with the expectation that it will improve performance and profitability. However, the reality is that many training sessions are like throwing buckets of paint at a wall and hoping some of it sticks. At AS SHEQ Training, we believe effective training is more like using a fine-tipped brush—carefully targeting the specific skills, roles, and job-related needs of each participant. To achieve this, we don’t just deliver training and walk away. We provide workplace-based follow-ups to evaluate whether the training intervention has produced measurable results. Objectives
Before a rand is invested in a training programme, a clear objective of the intervention must be defined. At AS SHEQ Training, we recognise that not every performance challenge can be solved through training alone. Too often, employers assume that underperformance can be corrected by enrolling staff in a training course. However, in many cases, other solutions such as mentoring, coaching, or counselling may be more effective. For example: If a sales representative is rude because of poor remuneration, no amount of training will make them more polite. In such situations, the root cause must be addressed before training can add value. That is why, before offering any training service, we conduct a thorough Training Needs Assessment (TNA) to determine whether training is truly the optimal solution.
